The taxi driver drove us out to a park a bit north of Saigon called Buu Long Mountain. I’ve added a picture of the park’s Long An (Dragon Lake), which is the reason why Buu Long is nicknamed “Halong Bay of the south,” after the famous Halong Bay in north Vietnam that makes it into almost every Vietnamese tourist promotion. (Halong Bay has the jutting limestone rock structures with hairy grass on top that are often photographed at sunset with traditional boats silhouetted against the sky.) But these rocks are really no comparison.
