The tour then forced us out of the bigger boat into smaller motorized boats to speed along the narrow canals that crisscross the islands in the river. The villages on the islands cater heavily to tourists, selling wooden spoons and small wooden sculptures, coconut candy (there's a small production plant on one island), tea, food, musical entertainment, and evidently sinuous pythons.
